ABOUT THIS TRACK

The Smith (also called 'Lucifer') is not only about what it seems. It is about a natural principle of balance.

The terms we have grown to call good and evil, under the overzealous wings of religion, are nothing more than the positive and negative energies that balance out our known universe. One can not exist without the other. And too much of one will irrevocably lead to a rise of the other at the expense of the first. That’s just how things seem to work for now. Accepting the darker sides of life is actually a healthy thing. Because our minds too, need to balance out a bit, from time to time.

There's a lot more out there that we don't see or understand. We should at least take that into consideration in judging whatever we encounter.

LYRICS

My name is Lucifer
I’m all misunderstood
The Church slanders my name,
say I’m no good

I’ve got this place
It’s like a really big hotel
The weather’s fine, the surf is great
I don’t know why you choose to call it Hell

You have placed me on your way
You’ve asked me how to get love
I’ve shown you how to play
You would have met me just the same
I’ve just shown you where to sign your name

I won’t cleave your soul in twain
I will not make you my concubine
And I shan’t unleash the children of the night
I won’t set ablaze the skies
I won’t desecrate your paradise
And I will point all your demons to the light
And I’m sorry for this accidental fright

When can I see the light
When will I be on you better side
On your good side

Well I’m not half as bad
As you would all like me to be
Three quarters of the guilt you face
was forged by liberty

And there’s a rule
that goes with everything I say
The things that you take for yourself
won’t make it through the day

I have always been deranged
Many faces ran by but nothing ever changed
I have always been denied
Since the day I’ve turned my back onto the light

I won’t cleave your soul in twain
I will not make you my concubine
And I shan’t unleash the children of the night
I won’t set ablaze the skies
I won’t desecrate your paradise
And I will point all your demons to the light
And I’m sorry for this accidental fright

When can I see the light
When will I be on you better side
On your good side
